A Roboticist and Artificial Intelligence Researcher. I strive to deeply understand the reality I live in.

Intro

Prasanth is a fourth year Ph.D. student who is exploring solutions to Human-Robot Interaction problems using Inverse Reinforcement Learning (IRL). Specifically, he is interested in learning how a cobot (collaborative-robot) can navigate shared workspaces in a safe and compatible manner to effectively team up with a human. Prasanth received his Masters in Mechanical Engineering - Robotics, from Colorado School of Mines. Currently, his robotic application is on fast track to be deployed as a commercial product in produce sorting sheds.

Experience

Graduate Research Assistant

THINC Lab, University of Georgia
  • I work on hard AI problems in fulfilment with Robotics. This includes fundamental computer vision and robot manipulation work to handle objects faster and better.
  • My research is multifaceted, involving object recognition, reinforcement learning, robot grasping, trajectory optimisation and general machine learning and control for robotics.
  • I'm currently working on a project funded by the National Science Foundation - National Robotics Initiative. This project is on track to be deployed as a commercial automated solution to vegetable sorting on conveyor lines.
January 2019 - Present

Robotics Intern

RIF Robotics
  • Collaboratively developed a perception based pick and place pipeline for sorting and kitting surgical instruments.
  • Built the stack on ROS2 and Moveit2, the latest and most widely used robotics architecture.
  • Used Realsense RGBD camera with Detectron2 for recognizing and classifying objects.
May 2022 - August 2022

Robotics Intern

Lunar Outpost
  • Worked on ROS Navstack for Autonomous Navigation on an ARM controller using 3D LiDAR Mapping for a Mobile Robotics Platform.
  • Developed Teleoperation capabilities, Multi-sensor integration, RGB cam based 360 deg live streaming, helped develop on board Electronics, and Mechanical Subsystems.

Graduate Researcher

MirrorLab, Colorado School of Mines
  • Integrated Robot Architectures DIARC and ROS to realize an Alpine Search and Rescue(S&R) Scenario in ROS Gazebo.
  • Pipeline development between DIARC and ROS to pass NLP commands to ROS and the feedback to DIARC.
  • Worked with researchers from University of Bremen, Germany to implement this pipeline on a ROS Gazebo based UAV alpine S&R Platform.

Interests

Physics aficionado, neuroscience admirer, fitness enthusiast and an emistemophiliac.

With a penchant for biology I would've become a neuroscientist. Instead, now I build and study robot brains! ;)

I'm mostly a homebody, I like my space and the peace that comes with it.

I like to go for long walks along natural trails while listening to mellifluous music and pondering the meaning of life.
